Bar and Bat Mitzvahs

Your child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah represents a major accomplishment to be celebrated and remembered for years to come, and I will be there to capture all the important moments of your special day. B'nai Mitzvah photography is my passion. I love telling the story of your child's mitzvah in pictures, portraying the emotions, the relationships, and all the moments in between. Being Jewish myself and having had my own Bat Mitzvah, I am intimately familiar with the nuances of the service, the Kiddush, Havdalah, and other rituals.

I believe in providing my clients with a highly personalized experience, and I'm there for you from the initial in-person planning consultation, to the day you see your pictures for the first time projected up on the big screen. I also believe in using only state-of-the-art professional digital photography equipment which allows me to capture the highest quality images, even in the dimmest of lighting conditions. If photography is allowed during the service, my camera operates in "silent" mode so as not to be obtrusive, especially during the more sensitive parts of the service (i.e. Amidah, Mourner's Kaddish).

What to Expect

It's the day of your mitzvah. Everyone's excited (and maybe just a little nervous). My style is very easy-going, and my goal is to keep everyone as relaxed as possible in order to create those natural-looking portraits that convey the real emotions of your family and your day.

While no two mitzvahs are scheduled exactly the same, here's an example of a typical day.

Sample Shooting Schedule:

  • 9am - Family portraits at the synagogue, portraits with the Torah/Rabbi, candids of guests arriving
  • 10am - Photography of the entire service (if allowed)
  • 12pm - Photography of the Kiddush lunch at the synagogue
  • 2pm or 6pm - Photography of the Reception (afternoon or evening)
  • 11pm - Closing shots and leave to back up photos

When you hire me, you have me for the entire day of your mitzvah. You can customize that time however you'd like. It's completely up to you. For example, some clients like to do additional family portraits an hour before the evening reception with everyone dressed up in their party clothes.
